Here is an expert article from Orange County based Lawyer Todd Picker just for the Apollo News Blog…It seems that changing the way dates are recorded and calculated electronically should not be that difficult a task. As a matter of fact, the Y2K issue does not at first blush seem much harder than switching over the time on a Rolex, but sadly, due to the relative age of the computer systems involved and too that computer-generated dates may be the result of information stored in different places within the computer’s memory, very costly review, and in many cases in neededquestion replacement of electronic data processing equipment, computer-related hardware plus software was badly to correct the problem. The overall expense of modifying them prior to the tirn of the century date rolled over to the year 2000 arrived, therefore, was enormous. Orange County and need a qualified Orange County Accident Attorney then call the Law firm of Todd Picker as he is a first rate and effecient Orange County Accident Attorney and can help with so many types of accident related cases.
While commentators speculated as to the potential affects the Y2K problem might have on commerce and day-to-day life, a general consensus emerged that a large volume of undesirable and counter-productive litigation would result. Consequently, in the United States resolving the Y2K issue necessarily encompassed taking into account the anticipated legal consequences arising from the problem. Congress responded by enacting the “Y2K Act”.’ The legislation’s purpose is described as follows:
1. See 15 u.s.c. 6601 et seq.
[2000) I.C.CL.R. ISSUE 4 © SWEET & MAXWELL LIMITED [AND CONTRIBUTORS)
[T]he purposes of this Act are-(l) to establish uniform legal standards that give all businesses and users of technology products reasonable incentives to solve year 2000 computer date-change problems before they develop; (2) to encourage continued remediation and testing efforts to solve such problems by providers, suppliers, customers, and other contracting partners; (3) to encourage private and public parties alike to resolve disputes relating to year 2000 computer date-change problems by alternative dispute mechanisms in order to avoid costly and time-consuming litigation, to initiate those mechanisms as early as possible, and to encourage the prompt identification and correction of such problems; and (4) to lessen the burdens on interstate commerce by discouraging insubstantial lawsuits while preserving the ability of individuals and businesses that have suffered real injury to obtain complete relief. Now, that is complicated, it really takes an attorney to understand it all.

A GPS (Global Positioning System) is a gadget that is becoming more popular every day. Citizens in cities Los Angeles and Orange County are enjoying the benefits and ease of driving navigation that they have to offer. From a Los Angeles personal injury attorneys perspective, GPS can be good and bad at the same time. The GPS System itself allows for the receiver that comes with the system the ability of determining not only its location, but its speed and direction, as well as the time. It can also help avoid having to hire cruise ship accident attorneys for shore excursion injuries due to getting lost.
Many people may not be aware of this, but the GPS Systems have many other useful operations they are capable of performing as well. They are a very useful source in map making, and they can also be used for land surveying. This system is also a useful tool in the scientific study of earthquakes. Unfortunately as with most anything else, there are also some negative factors to consider when you are purchasing a GPS System for yourself, a friend, or one of your family members.
If the placement of the system itself is not positioned correctly, it can cause inaccuracy and a delay in the information you receive from the receiver. This can be extremely frustrating in an emergency situation, or if you are depending on the system to get you at a specific place on time for something very important.
While the GPS system is rather new some drivers have problems when it comes to working them or getting information from them and Los Angeles injury lawyers will tell you that this can detract from their attention to the road leaving them vulnerable to the actions of other drivers or the hazards of the road its self.
Just as with other gadgets this can be a dangerous vehicle on the road when the driver does not have their full attention on the road and using their full driving skills. It can put them in the path of danger or other vehicles in the path of their vehicle. When this happens in the Los Angeles, Torrance, Marina del Rey or other Orange County areas there are personal injury attorneys and Los Angeles automobile accident lawyers who are are experienced in handling this type of accident as they are becoming more common. There are new gadgets like the GPS system that are added as a standard feature every year in new vehicle models to take drivers attention away from the road. As a result there will be more accidents related to gadgets and drivers who are using them while on the road. This will leave injured victims who will need the skill of an attorney that has experience and understands the hidden dangers in these new gadgets.
